Dora from Dora the Explorer is now a teenager in high school, and she is the main character in the new film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which came out in theaters on August 9, 2019.

If you are not familiar with Dora the Explorer, this was an animated series that ran for 8 seasons on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. In the original series, Dora was 7 years old and went on a series of adventures with her monkey companion, Boots. During these adventures, Dora would often stop and talk to the audience teaching conversational Spanish or asking for their help to solve puzzles and challenges along the way.

In 2013, Nickelodeon created a sequel to Dora the Explorer, Dora and Friends: Into the City, in which Dora had grown to 10 years old.

In Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Dora’s parents leave on an adventure but send Dora to her family that lives in the city. They tell her that they are doing this so that she can attend high school with other children her age. This is said to be her most difficult challenge yet, but she soon gets thrust back into her natural environment, the jungle.

In this live-action adventure, Dora is played by Isabela Moner. The other stars include Michael Peña, who plays Dora’s father, Eva Longoria, who plays Dora’s mother, and Jeff Wahlberg, who plays Dora’s cousin Diego.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold has gotten mostly good reviews, with an aggregate score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most reviewers praised the performance of Isabela Moner. They also enjoyed the references to the original series, including Dora’s conversations with the audience.

Will Dora and the Lost City of Gold come to Netflix in the future?

While we can not be certain, there is a good chance that Dora and the Lost City of Gold will come to Netflix.

If Dora and the Lost City of Gold were a Disney movie, we would be out of luck, but as it turns out, Paramount Pictures is the distribution company.

Paramount Pictures has a pretty good relationship with Netflix and has entered into a multi-picture deal in which Paramount will produce films for this streaming service.

On the other hand, Paramount Pictures does not have an exclusive contract with Netflix, so it is not possible to say for certain whether Dora and the Lost City of Gold will be coming there in the future.

Sadly, none of the Dora the Explorer episodes are available for streaming on Netflix right now. The first two seasons are available on Amazon Prime video with a regular Prime subscription. The other seasons are available to purchase there as well. Dora the Explorer is also available to buy on YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes.

Dora and Friends: Into the City is also available to buy at all of these same places. You can also watch it on Amazon Prime with a subscription to the NickHits channel.
