The Hustle is a female-centered remake of the 1988 film, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a remake of the 1964 film, Bedtime Story. This movie is about two female con-artists who ply their trade on an internet millionaire.
The Hustle is not on Netflix at this time, nor is it available for streaming anywhere yet.
The Hustle came out in theaters on May 10, 2019. It was released by United Artists Releasing in the United States and by Universal Pictures internationally. It was directed by Chris Addison and produced by Roger Birnbaum and Rebel Wilson.
In this movie, Anne Hathaway plays a sophisticated female con artist named Josephine. Rebel Wilson plays a less refined con artist named Penny. Josephine and Penny start off as rivals and competitors, but they decide to work together to scam men who have wronged women. This movie also stars Alex Sharp, Indrid Oliver, Emma Davies, Dean Norris, and Timothy Simmons.
While The Hustler did reasonably well at the box office, grossing $13.5 million in the United States and Canada and $13.7 million in other territories. It finished third in its debut. Despite this, it received very bad reviews, only receiving an aggregate score of 16% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It seems that the main problem with the movie was the lack of originality. It is a remake of a remake, and according to critics, it did not bring anything new or different to the table other than the feminine twist.
Will The Hustle be coming to Netflix? Where to steam and watch
If you are interested in seeing The Hustle on Netflix in the future, will you be able to?
It is highly unlikely that The Hustle will ever come to Netflix.
The Hustler is being distributed by United Artists Releasing in the United States, which is owned by MGM. At one time, Netflix and MGM had a streaming contract through its cable channel Epix. This agreement fell apart, however, when Epix signed a non-exclusive contract with Hulu in 2015. This contract does not prevent Netflix and Epix from continuing to do business, but Netflix backed out of its deal with Epix anyway. This means that Netflix probably won’t get streaming rights to The Hustle in the United States.
It is unlikely to get streaming rights internationally either. The international distribution company is Universal Pictures, which has an exclusive contract with HBO, and HBO and Netflix do not do business with each other.
There are some other shows playing on Netflix that might interest you, however. Some of these shows are:
- The Breaker Upperers – a Netflix film about two best friends that end people’s romances for a fee. In the movie, one of them grows a conscience which starts to destroy their friendship.
- Dumplin’ – a Netflix film about a Texas teen who enters a local beauty pageant that is run by her mother who is an ex-beauty queen.
- Set It Up – a Netflix film about two assistants who work together to trick their workaholic bosses into falling in love so that they can get a break from the office.
