There’s no hidden meaning in the title Man vs Bee. The film pits a clumsy man against a bee that just won’t let him be. For any actor other than Rowan Atkinson, such a show would be challenging to pull off; for a slapstick comedy master like Rowan, it seems like a walk in the park.

Without uttering a word, Rowan Atkison delivers a performance that has audiences worldwide dying of laughter. The short series ends quickly – which is both a bad thing and a good thing: you don’t want it to end because it’s so funny, yet there’s the risk that it’ll become stale if it goes on for too long.

Man vs Bee is unlikely to return for a second season

It’s highly unlikely that we’ll get Man vs Bee season 2. Netflix hasn’t renewed the show, and we don’t think the production powerhouse will do so.

In our opinion, the show exhausted its premise in season 1: you can’t extend such a narrative into a second season without impacting the content.

On the other hand, we cannot underestimate the quality of Rowan Atkinson. He could create an equally entertaining second season, but we doubt he will want to.

Furthermore, Netflix may use Rowan’s popularity to push the show into season 2. Knowing that people will tune in, Netflix might be tempted to commission a second season. It’s improbable, but not impossible.

We don’t think that Netflix will renew Man vs Bee, but we’d love to be proven wrong.
