Kevin Spacey’s past sexual misconduct continues to haunt him: a judge recently ordered him to pay close to $31 million to Media Rights Capital (MRC) after his behavior forced the production company to dismiss him from his role as Franke Underwood in House of Cards.
MRC said Spacey’s sacking cost the company millions. “We are pleased with the court’s ruling,” MRC attorney Michael Kump said. Further punishment might await Spacey as he faces a criminal trial in London on accusations that he sexually assaulted three men.
The allegations against Spacey made the secretive character even more reclusive. It was, therefore, a surprise when he made a public appearance in 2020 wearing a ring.

Throughout his decades-long career, Spacey has rarely opened up about his love life, with the actor content with people concocting rumors about his dating life. In 2007, Speacy told Gotham magazine:
“I’ve never believed in pimping my personal life out for publicity. Although I might be interested in doing it, I will never do it. People can gossip all they want; they can speculate all they want.”
“I just happen to believe that there’s a separation between the public life and the private life. Everybody has the right to a private life no matter what their professions are.”
Therefore, Spacey’s admission about his gay sexuality shocked fans. Out of the blue, Kevin posted on social media:
“I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”
Spacey’s sexuality had dominated tabloid headlines for years. Kevin repeatedly told outlets that the rumors about him being gay were false. In 1999, Kevin told The Sunday Times that the lack of visible activity in his dating life and his commitment to career advancement had sparked the untrue allegations.
Spacey then declined to field further questions about his sexuality, saying: “I chose for a long time not to answer these questions because of the manner in which they were asked, and because I was never talking to someone I trusted, so why should I? Recently I chose to participate because it’s a little hard on the people I love.”

Kevin Spacey has been linked to several women during his long career. In the mid-70s, outlets reported that Kevin dated April Winchell for nearly a year.
Reports claim that Kevin and Dianne Dreyer dated from 1992 to 2000. At the Academy Awards ceremony in 2000, Spacey sent a special shout out to Dreyer after winning an award:
“And Diane, thank you for teaching me about caring about the right things. And I love you.”
After breaking up with Diane, Spacey reportedly dated Helen Hunt. The media pictured the pair enjoying dates, including one at the 2001 US Open. It’s unclear how long the relationship lasted. In 2014, Spacey and actress Jennifer Jason Leigh were linked.
Since his admission about his sexuality, Spacey has avoided rumors about his love life.
