Poms is not available for streaming on Netflix

Poms was released in theaters on May 10, 2019, by STX Entertainment. This movie stars Diane Keaton as Martha, a woman who moves into a retirement community. Her plan was to go to this community to die. Her new neighbor, Sheryl, played by Jacki Weaver, finds Martha’s old cheerleader uniform. It turns out that Martha had made the cheerleader squad but never got to be a part of it because she had to care for her mother who was sick at the time. Martha gets the idea to start a cheerleading squad at the retirement village.

Other members of the cast include Rhea Perlman, Pam Grier, Celia Weston, Alisha Boe, Phyllis Somerville, Charlie Tahan, and Bruce McGill. Poms was directed by Zara Hayes who also wrote the screenplay along with Shane Atkinson.

Unfortunately, Poms ended up being a flop at the box office. It was projected to gross $7-10 million in its opening weekend, but it only made $5.4 million in its debut and finished sixth.

Poms received lackluster reviews as well, only receiving an aggregate score of 32% on Rotten Tomatoes. According to critics, Poms was predictable and filled with clichés. Many reviewers found that it was disrespectful to the demographic it was trying to celebrate. On the other hand, there were some reviewers who did enjoy it and praised the performance of the main cast as well. These reviewers said that the film did a good job of conveying a sense of sisterhood and “the exquisite poignancy of the friendships that bloom at the end of life approaches.” Nell Minow at RogerEbert.com.

Will Poms be coming to Netflix? Where to Stream

If you are interested in seeing Poms, but you do not want to go to theaters, will you be able to see it on Netflix?

Poms may come to Netflix, but it is still too early to know.

Poms is being distributed by STX Entertainment. This company has an exclusive agreement with Showtime that extends through 2019. So, if Poms does come to Netflix, it will not do so any time soon. On the other hand, Showtime does sometimes release shows to Netflix once they finish on the premium channel. So, it is possible that we may be able to see Poms on Netflix in the future. It may also go to Hulu or to Amazon Prime Video. There is no way to know at this point in time.
