Catastrophe is a British television sitcom. It is about an American advertising executive, Rob Norris, played by Rob Delaney, and an Irish primary school teacher, Sharon Morris, played by Sharon Horgan, who have a six-day fling while he is visiting London on a business trip. Sharon becomes pregnant as a result of this fling. Upon finding out, he returns to London, and they marry before the child is born.
Catastrophe first aired on Channel 4 in the UK on January 19, 2015. The first season had 6 episodes and ran until February 23, 2015. Since that time, there have been three more seasons, each with 6 episodes like the first season. Season 2 began on October 27, 2015 and ended on December 1, 2015. Season 3 began on February 28, 2017 and ended on April 4, 2017. Season 4 began on January 8, 2019 and ended on February 5, 2019. The fourth season was the final season. There are no more episodes in the making.
In Catastrophe, the role of Rob’s mother, Mia, was played by Carrie Fisher, who is best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. Carrie Fisher passed away shortly after the filming of season 3 had finished. The last episode of that season was dedicated to her, and the words, “For Carrie,” appeared on the screen with the credits.

Amazon has purchased exclusive rights to Catastrophe in the U.S. and in the UK. In the United States, all four seasons are currently available on Prime Video and they are included within an Amazon Prime subscription. It will become available to subscribers in the UK later this year. It can also be seen on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Australia and on SoHo in New Zealand.
