Bonnie Raitt is a serial Grammy winner, but she couldn’t hide her surprise when she won the coveted song of the year Grammy for her 2022 track Just Like That, which also won her the best American roots song. The song is about a mother who donates her son’s heart after he dies in an accident and gets to hear the child’s heart beating again.
“Oh my God,” Raitt began her acceptance speech. “I’m so surprised. I don’t know what to say. This is just an unreal moment.”
Raitt’s sexuality is unclear; she has faced gay rumors due to her association with the LGBTQ+ community
Raitt has long faced gay rumors due to her association with the LGBTQ+ community. She told a Bonnie Raitt fan site that she rubbed shoulders with the lesbian community as a young feminist. The artist also added that she grew up having crushes on gay dancers who had no interest in her.
“I meet a lot of gay women,” Raitt talked about her LGBTQ+ fanbase, “especially at receptions after my shows and for various political things. But I wasn’t aware I had a big following in the community. That’s fantastic to hear. I’m thrilled.”
So far, Bonnie Raitt’s public relationships have been with men. In the early 1990s, she married actor Michael O’Keefe after the couple met in Los Angeles.
“He called, and when I got back, we went out and have been hanging out ever since,” Raitt told Rolling Stone in 1990. “ But it’s not like we’re joined at the hip. He lives in New York, and I live here, so we see each other occasionally.”
Raitt dated record producer Rob Fraboni. The couple’s demanding careers forced them to end the relationship. She was also linked with musicians Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, and Euge Groove.
We suspect that the secretive Bonnie is currently single.
