The Kid Who Would Be King is a modern-day King Arthur tale. It was written and directed by Joe Cornish and is being distributed by 20th Century Fox. Joe Cornish also wrote and directed the science fiction comedy horror movie, Attack the Block, which has become a cult classic.

This movie is scheduled to come to theaters in the United States on January 25, 2019. It is about a young boy, Alexander Eliot, or Alex for short, who is played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis. Louis Serkis is the son of the famous motion-capture actor and director, Andy Serkis.

Alex is frequently bullied at school, but he finds Excalibur, the famous sword of King Arthur and pulls it. Apparently, Morgana, Arthur’s enemy from the past, is planning to enter the world of the living to spread evil. She will be able to do so because of an imminent solar eclipse. Morgana is being played by Rebecca Ferguson.

Alex learns from Merlin, who usually appears as a teenage boy, that his job is to stop Morgana. Merlin in his younger form is played by Angus Imrie. At times, Merlin appears in his true older form, and the older Merlin is played by Patrick Stewart.

Alex must assemble a new version of the Knights of the Round Table, and from the trailer, it appears that he recruits some of the children who formerly bullied him as part of this group.

Will The Kid Who Would Be King be coming to Netflix?

As The Kid Who Would Be King is not yet in theaters, is there is a possibility of it coming to Netflix?

The answer to this question is: No, it is highly unlikely that The Kid Who Would Be King will come to Netflix.

The Kid Who Would Be King is being distributed by 20th Century Fox. The Walt Disney Company has been working on purchasing 20th Century Fox since December 14, 2017. This past spring and summer, Comcast tried to outbid Disney for this company. Eventually, in July, Comcast withdrew its bid, and the shareholders of both Disney and Fox approved the merger. The deal is not yet complete, but it is expected to close sometime in the early part of 2019.

Disney is scheduled to open its own streaming service near the end of 2019, which will be called Disney+. Disney has also acquired a 60% ownership interest in Hulu. According to rumor and speculation, Disney may be planning to release material for younger audiences on Disney+ and use Hulu for shows aimed at adults.

Because of this, The Kid Who Would Be King will probably be going to Disney+ or Hulu and will not be coming to Netflix. On the other hand, there are some other shows you might like that are available for streaming on Netflix right now, including Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time and the new Netflix series, Watership Down.
