Julie and Todd Chrisley of Chrisley Knows Best will spend the next few years in prison after a court found them guilty of fraud and tax crimes. The Department of Justice adduced evidence showing the Chrisleys obtained loans by submitting false financial statements and audit reports. The couple plundered their ill-gotten loot on designer clothes, luxury cars, and real estate.

Julie and Todd were found culpable of conspiring with their accountant to defraud the IRS and evade the collection of taxes. Judge Eleanor L. Ross sentenced Todd to 12 years in prison and Chrisley to seven years. The couple will also face three years of supervised release.

Savannah Chrisley has taken custody of Grayson and Chloe Chrisley

Julie and Todd’s convictions prompted Savannah to seek custody of her brother, Grayson (16), and her niece, Chloe (10). Chloe is the daughter of Savannah’s half-brother Kyle, who lost custody amid his struggles with drug addiction and bipolar disorder.

“I come home Tuesday, and I have custody of a 16-year-old and a 10-year-old, and we spend our first Thanksgiving not as a family,” Savannah said on her Unlocked podcast. “I’ve never been away from my family for the holidays.”

Savannah said her biggest challenge was getting Grayson and Chloe to understand why Todd and Julie were leaving. She explained:

“[I’m] trying to navigate how you teach two younger children who aren’t fully developed yet and… get them to understand the circumstances. That’s a really, really difficult thing.”

Chrisley vowed to give Grayson and Chloe ‘love and hugs,’ which they ‘need more than anything right now.’ Savannah posted a cryptic biblical quote after her parents’ sentencing, predicting she would survive the storm. She wrote:

“Noah didn’t stop building the ark to explain himself to everyone who doubted and hated on him. Keep building your ark. The rain will do the talking.”
