Eliana Ghen is an American actor known for her appearance in Netflix’s Insatiable and Camila Cabello’s music video for Havana. In 2020, the rising star experienced exponential social media growth as her acting challenges and lessons gained traction globally. Ghen has close to 100K Instagram followers, 162K YouTube subscribers, and 3.6 million TikTok fans.

Ghen recognized that ‘POV’ acting synonymous with TikTok had become boring and introduced a new acting method in which people use their voice on the app. The support from fans encouraged her to create a production company known as Me Pictures, LLC.

This piece will look at the motivation behind Eliana’s acting career and her relationship with her husband.

Eliana started acting as a means to get over the trauma of sexual abuse at the hands of her grandfather

Eliana Ghen was born on 18th March 1993 in South Florida. Her parents are doctors and researchers who moved around a lot during Eliana’s childhood. Eliana has lived in Africa, Belize, Mexico, and Israel.

At the age of 7, Eliana experienced sexual abuse at the hands of her grandfather. The experience changed a happy, go-lucky kid into an anxiety-filled, fearful child. Ghen started acting as a means of dealing with the trauma. She drew motivation from Harry Porter and starred in her first theatre production in Africa. After getting back to the United States, she joined the local theatre and has been acting ever since. She told VoyageMIA:

“Since then, I have been training to be an actor and I have not stopped training since then. I went to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts to study acting. It was the most amazing experience I had in my growth as an actor. After, I moved to Atlanta and signed with Innovative Artists in Los Angeles and Alexander White Agency in Atlanta.”

Acting provided an escape from the trauma, but Eliana continued to struggle mentally. In a YouTube video posted on 1st September 2020, Eliana revealed that, despite her best efforts, she never felt good enough. Even after her abuser passed away, the pain stayed alive. Eliana’s mindset and life changed when she did a course titled The Landmark Forum. She wrote on a blog piece titled Story of my Life:

“When I did the forum, I realized who was saying all of those self-destructing thoughts… me. Once I realized that ‘Eliana’ emerged, but not the Eliana that was given to me by name, by circumstance, but by the once I created… from nothing. From then, I finally choose for the first time. I choose to take my life into my own hands. I choose I was incredible that I was powerful, that I am infinite.”

Eliana was in many toxic relationships before meeting her husband Marshal Mintz

Unfortunately, Ghen never experienced a peaceful relationship. After the death of her grandfather, Eliana lost a partner who she thought was the love of her life.

Every partner she got proved to be toxic, but her husband, Marshal, was different. The couple tied the knot in February 2018. Eliana told VoyageMIA that her husband gives her the motivation to keep moving forward:

“My husband always has me keep pushing no matter how many times I would want to quit. I think it’s important to surround yourself with people who want you to reach your goal as much as you do, then also give those people permission to push you and allow them to do whatever they need to do so you don’t give up.”
