Married at First Sight fans know that the show doesn’t always have a happy ending. This shouldn’t come as a surprise for a show that involves marrying a stranger. However, against all the odds, Jamie Thompson and Elizabeth Bice chose to remain married. The couple fought and argued a lot during season 9 of Married at First Sight, and so, their decision to stick together took many of us by surprise.

Most fans thought that their marriage wouldn’t last, but Jamie and Elizabeth have proven their doubters wrong. This piece will look at Jamie and Elizabeth’s relationship and their plans for the future.

The couple claims that the quarantine period has brought them closer together

Jamie and Elizabeth

Jamie and Elizabeth were both doing well in life before they decided to star on Married at First Sight. They both had great careers, but they didn’t have successful love lives. Elizabeth and Jamie wanted something spontaneous and risky, and that’s why they decided to participate in the show. The couple got the marriage that they wanted, but as we saw on the series, they didn’t have a healthy relationship.

Elizabeth told E! News that it got easier for the couple as they got to know each other. “Jamie and I definitely had some trials and normal tribulations… once you start to realize you have to evolve and don’t fight changing yourself, I think that’s when things start to flow and that’s where I’m at with Jamie,” she explained. “We’re definitely learning that we are evolving for a good reason.”

The couple’s relationship has benefitted from staying together during the quarantine period. Previously, they didn’t spend a lot of time together because of their careers. The couple told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that they have learned more about each other, and their bond has grown stronger. Beth stated:

“… we were married as strangers, and life has been so busy, this is the first time we’ve really had to slow down and learn about each other… We’re in the middle of quarantine, and we don’t know anyone around us. Luckily, Jamie and I have had each other, and that’s really awesome… It’s been fun finding out new things about each other.”

During quarantine, the couple learned that their one-bedroom apartment is too small for them. The couple’s struggle to find a bigger apartment will feature in the series Married at First Sight: Couples Cam.

Jamie and Elizabeth plan on having children in the future

Jamie and Elizabeth are content with their relationship, but they plan to have children in the future. Elizabeth told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she plans to freeze her eggs soon:

“I’m actually about to freeze my eggs. Jamie and I are talking about having kids, but I’m 31, so I just want to play it safe and make sure that if something were to happen – if I got a little bit older – it would still be a viable option.”

The couple wants people to stop speculating about their relationship. They have a healthy relationship, and they plan to ride it out for as long as possible. Jamie told soap dirt:

“I think the biggest misconception is people think we have a bad relationship. Honestly, we balance each other very well… The [Married at First Sight] experts did a great job seeing how good we would be for each other. They not only did their homework, they aced the test!”
