As we approached the last episode of BMF season 1, we couldn’t wait to find out what B-Mickie would do after finding out that his girlfriend, Kato, was a mole planted by Big Meech’s rival, Lamar. Inwardly, some hoped that love would triumph over betrayal, but deep down, we all knew that the drug game values loyalty above everything.
In the last episode, B-Mickie and Meech confront Lamar and Kato. Following a shootout, it appears like Kato will escape unharmed. However, B-Mickie tracks her down and shoots her. Season 2 will reveal whether Kato survived, but before then, let’s find out who Kato is in real life.
Kato is a woman named Lady who helped BMF establish its drug trade
It is reported that Kato represents a woman named Lady who helped BMF establish its drug trade.
Lady (it’s unclear if that’s her real name) appeared in a 2019 documentary by Doc Hicks TV in which she explained her role in the operation.
She met Demetrius and Southwest via her brother-in-law, Edrick ED Boyd, who had married her sister, Debra. Soon, Lady’s home became the center of BMF’s drug trade.
Lady played a crucial role as, being the only one with a job, she could deposit drug money in the bank without arousing suspicion. However, the large amounts of cash she deposited soon raised eyebrows, forcing the brothers to start hiding money elsewhere.
She also sold drugs and was a ruthless enforcer of the price hike from $20 to $50. Lady turned away anyone trying to buy drugs under $50, prompting her removal from her door job.
By her admission, she got a better job transporting drugs to buyers paying $2,000. “I’m like, ‘Y’all kicking me out the gang?’” Lady said. “They were like, ‘No. We are sending you on the runs.’ I like that better because I was making two bands a run to the westside.”
Lady, sometimes to her detriment, was also responsible for hiring cars for the gang. In the documentary, she told of this one time that she gave Demetrius and Southwest her Camaro, only for them to crash it. The brothers refused to pay her for the damage, but Lady holds nothing against them. “They never paid me for my car, but I love both of y’all,” she said.
Per Lady, the drug game wasn’t always fun, as rival gangs tried to hurt BMF by going after their loved ones. “They was all hating on my brother-in-law so bad, they wanted to take us out, seriously take us out,” Lady said.
Fans feel like it is a bit unrealistic to kill Kato, given that she is alive in real life
We don’t know whether Kato survived B-Mickie’s shooting. A large section of fans hopes that she isn’t dead as it would clash with the situation in real life.
If you are one of those fans, don’t be surprised when we learn in season 2 that Kato died. The show’s creator, Randy Huggins, told Urban Hollywood 411 that he took some liberties with BMF’s true story. He said:
“I may have to take a creative liberty to make an art pop a little bit more. I may have to take a creative license to make a scene funnier than it may have been, but that’s just part of telling a story. This is not a documentary.”
