Stan & Ollie premiered on October 2018 at the BFI London Film Festival. It is the story that is based on the lives of the famous comedy duet, Laurel and Hardy. Steve Coogan plays Stan Laurel and Steve Coogan plays Oliver Hardy. The movie was directed by Jon S. Baird, and the screenplay was written by Jeff Pope.

Stan & Ollie will be released in theaters in the United States on December 28, 2018 and in the United Kingdom on January 11, 2018. This movie will be distributed by Sony Picture Classics in the USA, Latin America, South Africa, Eastern Europe, and China, and by Entertainment One everywhere else.

This film is an emotional and poignant look at the lives of this legendary pair. It starts when they are at the twilight of their career in 1953 when they go on a variety hall tour of Britain. While the tour goes well, they are haunted by ghosts of their past. They must also deal with Oliver’s fading health.

John C. Reilly was nominated for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the 76th Golden Globe Awards for his performance as Stan Laurel.

Stan & Ollie has received very good reviews as well. It received a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews were touched by the story and the touching portrayal of the struggles of these two men. They were also impressed by how well the movie captured the friendship between them. Some reviewers noted that it neither puts them on a pedestal nor puts them in a bad light. Instead, they are portrayed as very human. Several reviewers used the words sweet and touching to describe this film.
