Netflix’s campaign to include Anime shows to its catalog continued when, in late 2019, the streaming platform announced that it would add Haikyuu!!. Haikyuu!! is a story about a boy named Shouyou Hinata, who desires to make it big as a volleyball player. He forms a team, and for the first game, the team lines up against star player Tobio Kageyama.
Kageyama’s team crushes Hinata’s new team, and Hinata vows to one day get his revenge on Kageyama. After clearing middle school, Hinata joins his high school’s volleyball team. To his shock, he finds that he will be team mates with his sworn enemy Kageyama.
When will Haikyuu!! season 3 come to Netflix?
There are currently 3 complete seasons of Haikyuu!! and their availability on Netflix depends on your region. The only region with all the seasons of the show is Japan. Japan gets every episode of Haikyuu!! as soon as it is released.
Germany and Switzerland have three seasons while countries like the UK, Australia, South Africa, Canada, and the US have 2 seasons of the show. Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, India, Singapore, and Thailand have one season of the show.
We expected that regions with two seasons of the show will receive Haikyuu!! season 3 in late-2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show’s appearance on Netflix has been pushed back.
We suspect that Haikyuu!! season 3 will appear on Netflix in late 2021. This date factors in the one-year delay caused by the coronavirus.
What to expect in Haikyuu!! season 3
Haikyuu!! season 3 will be much shorter than the first two seasons, but we still expect it to be quite entertaining. We expect season 3 to end with the hugely anticipated match between Karasuno High and Shiratorizawa Academy. The match will decide who between them will qualify for the nationals.
The first part of the season will mostly involve preparation for the match, and we expect that Tsukishima Kei will have a master plan that will help his team defeat their opponents. However, Shiratorizawa won’t be pushovers, and we expect a close and entertaining match.
Whatever the result, we expect that Hinata and Kageyama will have a major role to play in that game. Karasuno’s star players will have to be at their best to secure that coveted victory.
The show has a tendency of introducing us to new star players in every season, and we expect season 3 to be the same. The star player for season 3 will come from Karasuno’s main opponents. This star player will most likely strike a rivalry with one of Karasuno’s star players.
Character development has also been a major theme in Haikyuu!! And we expect to see Hinata and Kageyama’s characters develop further. It will also be interesting to see how the show develops Kei’s character.
