Frozen II is the sequel to the wildly successful 2013 film Frozen. The sequel was also very successful, and it had the highest all-time worldwide opening for an animated film.
Frozen II picks up three years after the events in the first film. It starts with Elsa celebrating autumn with her friends Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. She hears a mysterious voice, and she decides to follow it into the forest. However, her actions unintentionally awaken the elemental spirit, which forces people to evacuate the kingdom.
Elsa and her friends follow the enchanted voice into the forest, and they encounter a tornado that sweeps everyone into its vortex. Elsa uses her powers to stop the tornado, and in doing so, she reveals images from her mother’s past. The friends then encounter the waring Northuldra and Arendelian forces. Elsa uses her new-found knowledge of her mother’s past to unite the waring soldiers.
Elsa continues on her quest and discovers that her powers were a gift from nature, and they resulted from the selfless actions of Iduna. She also discovers that she is the fifth spirit. Anna then calls on the earth spirits to destroy a dam built by King Runeard to reduce Northuldra’s resources. The friends reunite and Anna becomes the new Queen of Arendelle while Elsa becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest.
