Barrett Carnahan’s career is flourishing, as is his private life. For most of the past decade, Carnahan has racked up many minor and guest appearances, seemingly preparing him for a future as an elite actor.
Barrett Carnahan and his wife, Nina Kubicki, dated for ten years before getting married
Carnahan met his wife, Nina, on a bus over a decade ago. “Ten years ago I took a shot in the dark and sat next to you on a bus,” Carnahan captioned a January 2021 photo of Nina. “One of my favorite things to do is close my eyes, vividly remember that moment, then open them to look at this image. My favorite photo of you. Gonna be a tough one to top.”
The couple got engaged in mid-June 2018. Carnahan wrote on Instagram in late July 2018 that he was ‘engaged and happier than ever’. He cheekily added that Nina’s fashion choice made bike riding with her extra special: “Nina’s black dress was billowing behind her in the wind at one point, and all I could think of was the final shot of The Dark Knight and it was a special moment for me.”
In 2019, rumors emerged claiming Carnahan was dating Isabel May, his castmate in Alexa & Katie. The reports claimed that Carnahan was prepared to end his engagement to Nina to pursue a relationship with May. However, the rumors were false.
The coronavirus pandemic delayed Carnahan and Nina’s June 2020 wedding. They eventually tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony attended by close friends and family. In his Instagram wedding announcement, Carnahan again referenced the first day he met Nina. “Ten years ago, I took a risk and sat next to you. Ten years later, I married you,” Carnahan wrote.
On 17th June 2021, Nina celebrated the couple’s wedding anniversary by posting Instagram photos of their wedding. She stated that she had no wedding-day jitters, writing:
“I can remember sitting in the bridal suite minutes away from heading to the ceremony. I remember everyone asking if I was alright or nervous. But most of all, I remember not being nervous, not even a little bit because I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be with who I was meant to be with.”
Nina and Carnahan’s son, Henry, was born on 19th July 2022
Nina announced she was pregnant via a 23rd January Instagram post featuring sonograms and the child’s due date. “Sweet baby, we haven’t met you yet but you are already our everything. Made up of and surrounded by a love that will forever move mountains for you,” Nina wrote.
Henry arrived on 20th July 2022, five days before his due date. Since Henry’s arrival, photos of the baby boy have become ubiquitous on Nina’s Instagram page. “Cherishing every moment,” Nina captioned a late April 2023 photo of Henry’s tiny hands wrapped around his parents’ index fingers.
Henry’s presence has likely eased the pain brought by the death of Lilly, Nina’s dog. In an emotional 12th March 2023 post, Nina wrote that Lilly, her trusted companion for 13 years, had passed away several days before. Nina said Lilly illuminated her life with a loving light. She continued:
“I never wanted to imagine what my life would be like without you in it and I’m still struggling heavily to accept that my life has to go on without you but I’m so glad I got to love you for all of yours. I desperately hope to see you in my dreams soon. I love and miss you so much it hurts.”
“Happy 13th Birthday, my sweet girl. More than anything I wish I could be spending it with you, but I hope that, wherever you are, you are spending it rolling in the grass, soaking in the sunshine, and enjoying an endless amount of toys and bones. I love you so much, Lilly,” Nina captioned a subsequent post.
