The best thing about sci-fi shows is that there are potentially endless storylines that a creator can explore. Another Life is the brainchild of showrunner Aaron Martin. In the show, Niko Breckenridge (Katee Sackhoff) leads an expedition to space to find the aliens that sent a mystical object to earth.
Why we love Another Life.
Soon after Niko and her crew head out to find the aliens (Achaia), they find out that they may be on a one-way mission. Niko discovers that the Achaia have no peaceful intentions for earth’s inhabitants. Niko and her crew watch helplessly as the Achaia obliterate the Zakir people.
On earth, the story is different. The Achaia have managed to convince earthlings that their intentions are pure. Glass, the Achaia’s spokesperson on earth, spreads the word about the Achaia’s good intentions, and the people believer her. Niko’s husband Erik believes the Achaia to the extent that he is willing to gamble on them to cure his ailing daughter.
Niko faces a race against time to return to earth to inform people about the Achaia’s evil intentions. However, will the people and her husband believe her? Another Life is a sci-fi with a dose of drama. It makes the show unique and very watchable. The actors also manage to portray their roles to perfection.
When will Another Life Season 2 be on Netflix?
Another Life wasn’t received well by critics. It had a dismal 6% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it was a hit on Netflix, and the streaming service recently chose to renew it for another season. It announced that filming will start in the next few months.
Filming for season 1 ran for four months, and the show premiered seven months after filming ended. If season 2 follows a similar timeline, we are likely to have season 2 in late 2020 or early 2021.
What to expect in Another Life season 2.
Season 2 will start with Niko making it to earth to warn people about the Achaia’s bad intentions. However, will it be too late? There was a hint in season 1 that the Achaia plan to control humans rather than destroy them. It will potentially make it harder for Niko to convince humans of the Achaia’s bad intentions.
Niko’s mission will put her in direct conflict with her husband, who believes that the Achaia harbor good intentions. We will see how the situation affects their marriage and the fate of their ailing daughter.
