Todd Chrisley will spend 12 years in prison after a jury convicted him and his wife, Julie, of tax evasion and bank fraud. The Chrisley family marketed itself as wealthy and flamboyant, but their apparent riches were ill-gotten, as prosecutors proved. A sentencing memorandum from prosecutors read:

“The Chrisleys have built an empire based on a lie that their wealth came from dedication and hard work. The jury’s unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another.”

During the trial, one of the most sensational allegations against Todd was that he had an affair with Mark Braddock, a former business associate. 

Todd Chrisley denied that he had a gay relationship with Mark Braddock

Mark Braddock started working with Todd in 2005. The couple’s affair lasted for about a year, after which they became friends until 2012, Braddock testified during Todd’s trial. 

Braddock said the couple received messages threatening to expose their dalliance and Chrisley’s fraud. Braddock said that he withdrew $38,000 from his bank account and gave the money to Todd to pay off the blackmailers. 

During a January 2023 appearance on Chrisley Confessions, Todd denied being in a gay relationship with Braddock. Todd said:

“What insulted me the most is that, out of all these 54 years, for me to finally be accused of being with a man, it would be someone who looked like Mark Braddock.”

The 53-year-old convict insulted Braddock, calling him ‘someone that looks like a thumb’ and ‘a toad’. Todd cast doubt on Braddock’s story, noting that his narrative kept changing. He said:

“Let me tell you something. I could understand if you’d have had sex with me, it would [make] you crazy. I get that. There have been many who have been dicknotized by your daddy.”

Todd said he would be less embarrassed if Brad Pitt or George Clooney had made similar allegations. “That is the one thing that is the most insulting,” Todd said. “To say that I couldn’t pull something better than that. There’s better to be had by Todd Chrisley than that.”

Before Braddock’s comments raised doubts about Todd’s sexuality, the assumption was that he was straight. So far, Todd’s confirmed relationships have been with women. He is married to Julie Chrisley and was previously married to Teresa Terry.
