Singers and performers occasionally spice up their stage appearances with public displays of affection. At the 2003 MTV VMAs, Madonna famously smooched Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. During her 2015 Coachella performance, Madonna was at it again, surprising Drake with a kiss – though the Passionfruit hitmaker seemed somewhat disapproving of Madonna’s gesture.
Drake is at the center of another PDA discussion, but this one isn’t clear-cut. A viral video reportedly shows Drake kissing The Weeknd during a 2017 performance in London. The video has convinced some fans that the pair kissed, but we have a different take.
Drake and The Weeknd hugged, but they didn’t kiss
In March 2015, The Weeknd invited Drake for a performance at the O2 arena in London. Drake’s appearance surprised and delighted fans as he wasn’t scheduled to perform at the event.
The long-time collaborators performed Jumpman, Energy, and Fake Love as fans cheered and sang along. Before Drake left the stage, he praised The Weeknd and recalled hearing his 2011 mixtape House of Balloons.
As Drake exited, he hugged The Weeknd and shared a laugh with him. The pair didn’t kiss, as an edited video purports. They merely performed together and praised each other’s talents.
