Self-titled life coach Kevin Samuels has passed away, per a statement by Melanie King. Melanie, reportedly one of Kevin’s close friends, said on 5th March that she’d received ‘family confirmation’ that Kevin had died.
“I have family confirmation,” King said in a video. “I have family confirmation. This is 100%. The funeral will likely be in Oklahoma City.”
Samuels was a polarizing character, and netizens’ reaction to news of his passing shows it. Some fans have mourned Samuel’s passing, and others have fallen desperately short of outrightly celebrating it.
Kevin was found unresponsive, but his cause of death has yet to be confirmed
Kevin Samuels was reportedly found unresponsive at his home in Atlanta. He was rushed to the Atlanta hospital, but doctors could not revive him.
Unconfirmed reports claim that Kevin Samuels died due to cardiac arrest. Neither his family nor his team has released an official statement regarding Kevin’s death.
Samuels’ controversial nature earned him many critics
Many considered Samuels to be misogynistic, and it’s easy to see why considering the content of a recent post: Kevin referred to unmarried women in the mid to late 30s as ‘leftover’ women. He said:
“You’re what’s left over. Men know there’s probably something wrong with you. Whether you want to hear it or not, I’m going there with you. I’m telling you the truth you don’t want to hear. Men know there’s probably something wrong with you.”
Kevin criticized women for focusing on career advancement rather than settling down in marriage. Samuels often received condemnation from listeners, which he saw as unfair.
“It has and continues to be well and publicly documented that anyone make or female who ‘tells women the truth’ will get attacked by women,” he wrote on Instagram days before his death.
It goes without saying that most Kevin Samuels detractors have shown indifference following news of his death. Journalist Ernest Owens tweeted:
“Kevin Samuels has made a career off of shamelessly disgracing Black women for profit. He emboldened the most toxic individuals to project tired and harmful narratives about Black women. Dead or alive, what a disgraceful life to live. That’s all I have for that misogynist.”
