One of Kiera Cass’ most famous books, The Selection, is coming to Netflix. The book is set 300 years in the future, and it tells the story of America Singer – an ordinary girl who is selected to compete against 34 other girls for Prince Maxon’s hand in marriage.
Singer is happy and in love before her selection, and she doesn’t plan on becoming the princess. However, fate intervenes, and she starts developing feelings for the prince. It leaves Singer torn between the prospect of being the prince’s wife or returning home to her lover.
When will The Selection debut on Netflix?
In April 2020, it was announced that an adaptation of The Selection would come to Netflix. Kiera Cass announced that she would work with Saudi Arabian filmmaker Haifaa Al-Mansour to direct the film.
The last update we got about the film’s production came via an April 10th tweet from Kiera. She stated that she was still at the scripting stage and that we shouldn’t expect the film to follow the book’s exact storyline.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we do not expect that production has gone beyond scripting. Therefore, we expect The Selection to appear on Netflix sometime in mid-2021.
