Locke and Key is an exciting Netflix horror series that has taken the world by storm. The series was adapted from the comic book series with the same name by Joe Hills and Gabriel Rodriguez.
The show revolves around the lives of a lady and her three children after they move to a residence in Matheson, Massachusetts. Nina and her three children move to the house after Nina’s husband Rendell Locke is murdered by Sam Lesser.
Nina and her children soon discover mystical keys that open pathways into a magical realm. Unfortunately, there is a supernatural force that wants the keys to facilitate an evil plan.
Locke and Key is an exciting and bone-chilling series, but there is currently only one season if the show. Luckily, there are plenty of supernatural shows on Netflix for you to watch.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018- )
The first season of The Haunting of Hill House was loosely based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel with the same name. The plot follows five siblings who are still haunted by the events that led them to flee Hill House in 1992.
In 1992, Hugh and Olivia Crain and their children set about renovating the Hill House mansion so that they could sell it and build their own house. However, repairs took longer than expected, and they were forced to stay in the house for longer. After a while, increasing paranormal activity and a tragic death forced them to leave the house.
In the present day, the five siblings and their father reunite, and find out that the ghosts of Hill House still haunt all of them. The Haunting of Hill House is at the top of most horror lists, and it won’t take you long to understand why.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018- )
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina revolves around a half-witch and a half-mortal teenage girl, who has to live a normal life while protecting her family against the evil forces of the supernatural world. It’s quite a task to put on a young girl, but with the help of her mortal friends she has every chance of succeeding.
However, Sabrina’s earthly friends stand no chance against the beasts of the underworld. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is by all accounts a horror show, but it also has aspects of teenage drama and romance that will keep you glued to the screen.
Stranger Things (2016- )
When you watch Stranger Things, you will get the sense that the show’s title is rather misleading. The show opens you up to a whole new world where things are not only strange, but are also likely to devour you whole. It’s the new reality that the kids in Hawkins, Indiana, have to deal with after the disappearance of one of their friends.
As they search for their friend, the kids get help from a mysterious young girl from out of town. The kids then discover a laboratory hidden in plain sight, which performs experiments on the supernatural. They also discover an alternate dimension known as The Upside Down. Soon enough, this new dimension starts to turn the lives of the residents of Hawkins upside down. Stranger Things is one of the best horror shows that you can find on Netflix.
Santa Clarita Diet (2017- )
What would you do if your partner rose up from the dead with an insatiable craving for human flesh? Joel Hammond finds himself in this situation after the death of his wife Sheila. Joel and Sheila were real estate agents before Sheila’s metamorphosis, but they now have to find out a way to deal with Sheila’s condition before they can go back to selling houses.
Joel and Sheila have to feed Sheila’s hunger in secret while trying to find out the cause and a possible cure for her condition. Santa Clarita Diet certainly has some comedic elements, but there is enough horror in the show to send shivers down your spine.
Originals (2013-2018)
It’s rare for a spin-off series to be as good, or even better than the original series, but according to many critics and fans, Originals was way better than The Vampire Diaries. Originals serves up werewolf and vampire horror from the outset, as we watch the members of the Mikaelson family betray and forgive each other as they’ve done for the best part of a millennium.
Originals doesn’t spare characters that we once thought invincible, as even the strongest characters will meet their match. It’s the perfect show to watch for brutal horror and entertaining family drama.
Lucifer (2016- )
Most of us imagine the devil as this evil underworld monster who lives in the fiery depths of hell. Lucifer puts a human twist to the devil, and portrays him as a night club owner in LA. Lucifer is the real devil, but he’s gotten bored with running hell, and chosen to live among humans.
Lucifer is more than a night club owner, however. He is also a correspondent for the LAPD, and he is helping them stop criminals in LA. Lucifer’s new found role on earth satisfies his craving for excitement, but other supernatural beings are less than impressed with his new calling. In a nutshell, Lucifer is your one stop shop for drama, romance, and horror.
The Walking Dead (2010- )
The Walking Dead offers a bit of an insight into how the world would look in the event of a zombie apocalypse. In the show, the surviving humans face a constant threat from blood-thirsty zombies known as ‘walkers.’
In a bid to secure survival, independent human factions turn against one another as resources dwindle. In The Walking Dead, everybody wants you dead.
