Alex Bregman is an American baseball player for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. Bregman made history as a sophomore at Albuquerque Academy by becoming the first high school player to win the USA Baseball Player of the Year Award. The next year, he set a New Mexico season record by recording 19 home runs.
Bregman spent three years at Louisiana State University, winning the 2013 National Freshman of the Year by Baseball America. The Houston Astros selected Alex as the first-round second pick of the 2015 MLB draft.
This piece will look at Alex Bregman’s wife Reagan Howard.
Alex and his wife Reagan Howard wed in a COVID-restricted ceremony in December 2020
Alex announced his engagement to Reagan Howard via a late January 2020 Instagram post. “Love you forever baby,” he captioned the post.
“Married to my best friend,” Reagan captioned the couple’s early December wedding announcement post. Per The Knot, Alex and Howard exchanged vows at the backyard of Reagan’s parent’s home.
The couple had planned a bigger ceremony than the one they had, but the spread of COVID-19 forced them to change their plans. Alex and Reagan asked their limited guest list to quarantine for two weeks before the wedding and requested that they agree to coronavirus testing at the venue.
“Everyone was willing to stop their lives for us, quarantine, and stay safe,” Alex told The Knot. “It was super cool and made us feel really good that they did that for us.” Alex and Reagan cut many things from their original plan, but they refused to dispense with Paul Wall’s performance, much to the delight of the wedding photographer.
“We had Paul Wall tested, and then he performed at the wedding,” Bregman said. “Our photographer stopped taking photos (at one point) and just started dancing.” The couple kept high-risk family members in the loop by live-streaming the ceremony. Despite the COVID-19-imposed restrictions, Alex and Howard organized a successful and intimate ceremony. Howard told The Knot:
“It made us truly appreciate our family and made us look into the true meaning of a wedding. Sometimes it becomes all about the décor and party, but with COVID, we had to limit it and be extremely careful. We were able to focus on what it’s really about, which was getting married.”
Alex and his wife are suing La Cantera Resort for refusing to refund a $80,000 deposit they placed to have their wedding at the venue
Alex and Reagan initially planned to have their wedding at the La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, but they had to move their wedding due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. They moved the ceremony because some guests couldn’t travel, and the CDC placed strict restrictions on large gatherings.
“As cases surged in Texas and across the country leading up to the wedding date, it was clear we had to make plans for a smaller ceremony with fewer guests,” Bregman told Houston Chronicle. Per a press release, the Bregmans paid $80,000 deposit, and the resort is asking for a further $40,000 due to the cancellation.
The Bregmans insist that they signed a contract stating that they would cancel the ceremony if guests couldn’t travel safely to the venue. “The contract clearly states they have to give back the deposit if the wedding couldn’t be held due to COVID-19,” said the Bregmans’ business manager, Bruce Malott.
Alex and Reagan tried to negotiate a comprise with the venue by pledging to host a reception there after COVID-19 cases subside. However, the resort rejected the suggestion. Alex explained:
“We tried to work something out with the resort. We made an offer to get a partial refund and have a reception after COVID, but that was rejected. Since the resort is unwilling to work with us on a solution, we feel we have no choice but to take legal action to get our deposit back.”
